Alex Freedman

Mr. Freedman, Vice President of Summit has over seventeen years of business management, real estate management, real estate finance and transactional experience. He is active in the professional real estate community, participating in various organizations that drive policy and standards for their industry. Mr. Freedman is consistently maximizing value for Summit’s clients and residents, while advancing the communities and neighborhoods where Summit is engaged. He has a resourceful network of experts that he is committed to bringing to the table on behalf of his clients. In a business that is constantly evolving, based on changing needs and economic conditions, he maintains a vision for continuing to take Summit forward, ahead of industry developments and trends.

 

At Summit, Mr. Freedman is a senior member of the team responsible for overseeing the management of the Summit portfolio, which includes 7,000 apartments and 100 commercial units across the Northeast with the largest concentration in Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn. Throughout his career at Summit he has coordinated the closings of over $170 Million in loans for affordable housing, $70 Million in capital projects and directed the structure for the day-to-day operations in the communities. With a passion for social responsibility, to date, he has worked to develop hundreds of affordable units in New York City as well as acquisition/rehabilitation projects in New York City and upstate New York. 

 

Immediately prior to joining Summit, Mr. Freedman was a corporate attorney at Kramer Levin Naftalis and Frankel, a firm with over 50 years in the real estate arena. He had a diverse group of clients including public, private and international corporations, guiding them on the full continuum of mergers and acquisitions, securities, financing and corporate advisory matters. Mr. Freedman has experience with clients of all sizes, ranging from closely-held businesses to Fortune 500 issuers and investment banks, conducting private placements and public offerings, including initial public and secondary offerings.

 

Prior to his tenure at Kramer Levin, Mr. Freedman was a real estate attorney at Thacher Proffitt & Wood, where he managed all aspects of loan closings for major investment banks. There he became experienced in the structure and negotiation of billions of dollars in loans, covering commercial and construction loans secured by residential, retail, office and hotel properties. 

 

Mr. Freedman received his Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law, where he was on the Dean’s List and served as a Senior Editor of the Journal of International Law and Business. He received his Bachelor of Arts at University of Rochester where he graduated cum laude.
